To be honest I’ve never really been a huge fan of the whole
crime thriller genre. It usually takes
so long to introduce the characters and establish the plot I’ll just switch mindlessly
to re-runs of Friends. Broadchurch however
was something else.
A very brooding and Scottish David Tennant takes on the case
of Danny Latimer, a young boy murdered in his small town of Broadchurch. I felt
the beauty of the programme lay in its longevity (there are 8 episodes total). The
story wasn’t crammed into a single episode therefore the storyline was easier
to follow, I was far more emotionally invested in the characters and the ending
was an even bigger shock. Literally I sat gaping at the TV for at least 5
minutes after the final episode had ended.
Well worth watching, AND HIGHLY ADDICTIVE.
Prepare to spend 90%
of all conversations with fellow viewers trying and failing to identify the
killer.
