August Favorites 2014

Tostitos with a Hint Lime

My new favorite snack. This is not a healthy alternative. You will literally eat the whole bag of chips in one sitting. I haven’t tried these with queso or guacamole but as soon as I make a trip to the supermarket I will be!

The Silk Worm By Robert Galbraith (a.k.a J.K. Rowling)
J.K sorry Robert has done it again. The protagonist Cormoran Strike and his secretary (soon-to-be love interest?) Robin are fantastic characters that draw you into story and keep you on the edge of your seat. I’m just hoping it will live up to its predecessor The Cuckoo’s Calling.

etsy.com
I’d often heard bloggers rave about etsy.com, but never had the need to visit the site. However recently looking over the walls of my bedroom I felt they were pretty stark. Since I painted my room in 2010 I haven’t used any wall decor so as not to damage the paint job. However as soon as I saw this poster I had to have it!

Etsy does countless minimalist and unique poster designs, from Disney to doughnuts and everything else in-between.

Topshop Flats

Despite being only 5’3 I love my flats. This shoe caught my attention immediately due to the pastel pink (although here they look more cream) and the fact I don’t own any slipper-style shoes. These are so comfortable and really dress up my jeans. I am seriously considering buying them in black as well.

How I Met Your Mother

After all the controversy about the final season of the show I was curious. Fast forward 2 months and I am completely addicted. I love all the actors, in fact when my brother asked me to rank the characters I felt like I was betraying them(I get attached). I can’t wait for the reveal of the mother and am having a hard time not looking it up online!

Another month gone another month closer to Christmas! (too early?)

TV Shows You Should Binge Watch

In no particular order here are the shows that have consumed the days when I was avoiding doing work, skipping exercise or I was just so addicted to I spent 6 consecutive hours watching. Enjoy!

1. The Mindy Project: Gynaecologist tries to find love in NYC.

Mindy Kaling is the best friend you always wanted and the girl you always secretly hoped to end up like. The show is hilarious, stars buckets of very attractive male suitors and pays homage to everyone’s favorite romcoms. Also the chemistry between her and Danny is HOT.

2. Breaking Bad: Chemistry teacher turns meth dealer.

To be honest I watched the first episode and wasn’t too impressed. One year later, after hearing everyone raving about it I decided to give another chance and got completely addicted. There’s thrills, dark comedy and captivating characters. Definitely worth watching.

3. Skins (U.K.): Teens go wild.

British accents, drugs and all-night raving. This may not appeal to more mature viewers, but the skins characters are so cool you can’t help but root for them. Although not an accurate depiction of teenage life (at least not in my case!) the story lines are gripping and often thought provoking.

4. Torchwood: Alien Hunters protect planet earth from extraterrestrials.

A spin-off from Doctor Who for an older audience. This show is completely different to anything I’ve seen before. The stories are dramatic, heart breaking and action packed. The characters although reminiscent of Doctor Who are flawed in very human ways which makes them all the more lovable.

5. American Horror Story

I didn’t include a description for this one as the characters and story changes each season. So if you haven’t watched from season one it doesn’t matter! This show is really scary and scarily addictive (haha sorry bad joke). Settings include a haunted house, a mental asylum, New Orleans and a freak show.

You don’t need any other reason to watch but this guy… Evan Peters.

15 Random Facts about Me

Bonus Fact: I support Aberdeen Football Club!

I think technically it’s meant to be 25 facts however I didn’t want to overwhelm anyone with an encyclopedia worth of information. I start rambling sometimes so I’ll do my best to keep my facts short and sweet.

1. I am 20 years old.

2. The only trousers I own are Topshop Leigh skinny jeans.

3. I have lived all over the world. I was born in Scotland, moved to Houston, then Singapore, England, Qatar, Houston again and finally Oklahoma. Currently I’m back in Scotland for university.

4.Driving around aimlessly with my music blasting is one of my favorite things to do.

5. My alcoholic beverage of choice is Smirnoff Ice.

6. My favorite colors are light sea green, gold and pink, although my wardrobe mainly consists of pastels!

7. I hate the texture of seat belts. Ugh just thinking about it makes me squirm. What’s worse is when someone scratches a seatbelt, IT’S JUST AWFUL.  My brother and sister torture me by scratching their seat belts over long car journeys where there is no escape!

8. I am addicted to Diet coke.

9. Modern scary and horror movies don’t bother me at all, yet scary black and white films from the late 50s and early 60s terrify me.

10. For my 6th Birthday I got a turtle named Murtle. I wish I was joking about the name. Sadly we had to release her back into the wild once she was full grown. I remember my Mum standing for ages by the water yelling at the other turtles to stop bullying poor Murtle. I’ve been told turtles can live up to 30 years so I like to think she’s still there now!

11. I am always getting told off for being too loud. I like to think my voice just carries well haha.

12. I love to write. I’ve been writing stories and creating ‘family’ newspapers for as long as I can remember. At school I was over the moon if a teacher announced we were doing some kind of creative or imaginative project. My stories were often double the length of everyone else’s (the teacher must of hated me).

13. I’ve been a vegetarian since age 7. You can read my post about it here.

14. My siblings and I used to love dressing up. We came up with our own plays (always murder mysteries for some reason), in which we played multiple parts and all had at least 4 costume changes.

15. My first love was Johnny Depp. After I saw the first POTC film there was no going back.

Hope you enjoyed this post!
